MARION LANE
Artist's Statement, Curriculum Vitae

I use abstraction as a way to express my ideas, because for me, it is the most direct and universal. Each work is a new experience and an opportunity to confront my inner chaos. The process is a mystery and a search in which destruction partners with creation in unfolding progression. Using intuition, persistence and the joy of sublime accident, I sometimes create something fresh, interesting, and relevant. It becomes an aha moment and my ultimate reward. Circles or other geometric forms often appear in my work. They allude to a need for order and a link with art history. My recent work uses draped fabrics, to create relief forms that point me in exciting and untried directions
