ALLAN CYPRYS
Artist's Statement, CV

For the past several years my work has revolved around environmental and social issues. My newest body of work, Portait Heads uses a life size scale of the human head to pay homage to the caretakers of our planet, the common man. Using the medium of collage I am able to create a kaleidoscope of color, patterns and forms. In creating each of the faces, I fold the paper in different directions to give them some dimension as well as a sense of character.

When working in wood and/or mixed media I create sculptural images that reflect my continual facination with modern architecture and the human figure. In my Skyscrapers series, I use wood with a denticulate pattern to create structural images that resemble human characters.
